From the current owner: We got our bird Charlie - a male umbrella cockatoo - when he was probably 1.5 years old, in 1992. He lived with us (husband and wife, dogs and cats) and had lots of attention for the first 5 years we had him.
He's always been around cats, kittens, and dogs, but has little interest in them - he's not aggressive nor friendly towards them. He is more fond of women than men, though his primary caretaker is male and he is OK with men but is easily frightened by them.
He does *not* like hats on people, and is not good with children or of course with people poking things into his cage.
He's very friendly with our goffin, but he can be very aggressive so we do not let them come into contact or be alone together ever.
He enjoys playing, and getting showers - we have taken him in the shower, but he prefers to be sprayed and misted by a hose while sitting on our outside deck.
He has a good size cage and still has a nest box that he loves to sleep in, and that he also uses when he gets scared. He gets a good mix of foods, including fruits and vegetables
